Concord New Energy Group Limited (CNE) participated in the 17th Singapore International Energy Week (SIEW), held from October 21 to 25, 2024, under the theme “A Connected and Sustainable Energy World.”

Ms  Liu Jianhong, Vice Chairman of the Board of Directors of CNE, and Dr. Owen Chen, Chief Technology Officer (CTO) and Vice President, led the team to attend.

SIEW, organized annually by Singapore’s Energy Market Authority (EMA), serves as a premier platform where global energy professionals, policymakers, and industry commentators come together to exchange best practices and innovative solutions in the global energy landscape. SIEW 2024 features a range of activities, including the Singapore-IEA Ministerial Forum, Singapore-IRENA High-Level Forum, SIEW Energy Insights. Energy ministers or deputy ministers from multiple countries, ambassadors from some countries to Singapore, local business professionals, as well as globally renowned companies such as Aramco, Sembcorp, Google, Huawei,Mitsubishi Power, and Geely participated in this year’s Energy Week activities, deeply discussing key themes such as international energy cooperation, breakthrough technologies, and innovative financing strategies.

Senior Minister of State for Trade and Industry and Ministry of Culture, Community and Youth of Singapore, Low Yen Ling, visited the CNE booth.

On October 23, at the SIEW Energy Insights session, Dr. Owen Chen delivered a keynote speech titled “The Practice and Exploration of Renewable Energy Development.” He shared CNE’s perspective on global renewable energy trends, the challenges posed by integrating variable renewable energy (VRE) into power grids, and CNE’s hands-on experience in developing renewable energy power plants.

Dr. Owen Chen emphasized that the renewable energy sector has seen rapid growth in the past five years. As a developer and operator of renewable energy power stations with 18 years of industry expertise, CNE has achieved remarkable success in constructing and operating wind and solar power plants. However, the company faces ongoing challenges in balancing the intermittency of renewable generation with grid stability and integrating high-quality wind and solar resources into green electricity.

To address these challenges, energy storage and power-to-x (PTX) technologies have emerged as pivotal solutions. CNE has made significant strides in deploying energy storage systems and is actively exploring technical solutions and business models for wind-solar hydrogen production through PTX projects. The company has also been involved in the development of integrated wind, solar, storage, and hydrogen projects as part of its international expansion strategy.

Dr. Owen Chen reiterated the international consensus on advancing the global energy transition and achieving sustainable development. CNE remains committed to fostering collaboration with leading global energy companies, exploring new opportunities, and contributing to the global energy transition. Together, CNE and its partners aim to build a more connected and sustainable energy future, generating for generations.
